12 June 2002
According to the Hong Kong-based Information Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in China, at least five workers were injured and three arrested during a confrontation with the police in Chengdu on 11 June, 2002. Several hundred workers blocked street traffic in the capital city of the western province of Sichuan to protest against corruption. The protesting workers were reportedly from the state-owned Gao Shengqiao vehicle repair plant.
