According to the Hong Kong-based Information Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in China, at least five workers were injured and three arrested during a confrontation with the police in Chengdu on 11 June, 2002. Several hundred workers blocked street traffic in the capital city of the western province of Sichuan to protest against corruption.
