Fourteen die in coal mine accident
14 June 2003 On 14 June, according to reports, fourteen people were killed and 12 others injured in the Jianghu coal mine in Lechang city, Guangdong Province, when a mining car was derailed sending miners down a 250 metre deep shaft, state press said on Sunday.
There were 26 miners in the mining car when the accident took place. Three of them were seriously injured and taken to a local hospital.
The accident occurred as the miners were changing work shifts.
