Road workers buried in Tibet

16 July 2003
16 July 2003

It has been reported that at least 16 people have been found dead after being buried under a landslide on 9 July 2003 on the Sichuan-Tibet Highway.

The bodies are believed to be those of a group of road workers camped at the landslide site.

Loose rocks fell from the mountainside approximately 500 metres from the workers camp, burying the workers tents. All the workers are now missing except two who were rescued ad sent to a nearby hospital for treatment.
