According to reports in the media, nine people died and one was seriously injured in an explosion at a fireworks factory in Liling City, Hunan Province.

The explosion occurred in the afternoon on 26 June almost totally destroyed the factory, causing extensive damage to surrounding houses.

After the explosion, nearby areas were evacuated and all other firework factories in Liling city were allegedly closed pending safety inspections.
