Two workers in Nanjing were detained by police after allegedly illegally organising workers to protest, according to a local newspaper.
On 26 August, a group of 33 rural migrant workers from an unnamed construction company in the Liuhe district of Nanjing took to street to fight for unpaid wages, the Modern Express (Xiandai Kuaibao) reported. They waved banners and marched on the road towards the city government building. The report said they obstructed the traffic and two workers surnamed Liu and Ding were later administratively detained by the police for organising the protest.
On the previous day, on 25 August, more than 100 workers from a company in Nanjing staged a protest to block the main gate of the company and snatched a company manager to the Yangtze River Bridge and they were trying to petition to relevant government departments for some "employment problems".
Without naming the company, the report said the workers' actions blocked the traffic on the bridge for some time. Police later dispersed the crowd.
