300 Coal Miners killed in January

China Safety Inspection Bureau had recorded a death toll of 300 miners from numerous coal mine accidents which took place across the country in the month of January.

On 2 February, 2002, the Bureau issued an urgent notice to the coal mine safety bureaux in Hebei, Hunan, Chongqing, Yunnan and Hubei provinces to order them to stringently execute all regulations regarding safe operations of mines and send those responsible for the serious accidents and illegal operations to administrative and legal justice.
